Height and Weight are two important parameters in determining health of a person. Thus in order to stay healthy one need to maintain a balance between height and weight. In this respect, a measurement parameter is used to judge the balance between an Individual’s Height and Weight. And the measurement parameter is Body Mass Index or Quetelet index, which is commonly known as BMI. It does not emphasize upon the proportion of body fat but rather deals with the ideal relationship that should exist between Height and Weight of a person.

Body Mass Index or Quetelet index, which is commonly known as BMI. It does not emphasize upon the proportion of body fat but rather deals with the ideal relationship that should exist between height and weight of a person. The BMI of a person is easy to calculate without enough complexity and often used to deal with weight related problems. There are several types of weight related problems with one being Overweight or Underweight. BMI helps to determine the required of Normal Height to Weight Ratio and thereby to judge the status of Overweight or Underweight.
The BMI was invented by Belgian mathematician and socialist Adolphe Quetelet. It is after his name the index has been named Quetelet Index. BMI plays an important role in the preparation of Height and Weight Chart for a normal person. As without it, it is almost impossible to come up with a proper chart that helps to determine the required Height and Weight of a normal person. There is a standard chart for individual Men and Women who show how much a person should Weight according to its Height.

The above Charts present the Right Relationship that should prevail in between Height and Weight of a person. If one Weighs more than the corresponding Height then it is a situation of Overweight. On the other hand a person Weighing Less than the corresponding Height is said to be Underweight. For healthy conditions both should be Balanced and on the other an Imbalance between the two parameters indicates unhealthy condition. With the growing traffic of work and life it is hardly possible for anyone to maintain certain Body Aspects. Height is not possible to control but what is controllable is Weight and is totally under human sense and desire to maintain it according to the healthy norms.
